HAL 9000 assisting a Windows user on gaining entry to their desktop environment.

From the dark depth of my garage, a U.are.U 4500 fingerprint reader stood alone, collecting dust due to the lack of driver support on Windows 10 and 11. No sunlight, no Windows Hello.

If you can relate to this story, fear not. There is an official WBF [Windows Biometrics Framework] driver available. After downloading it, you can install it in Device Manager. Select the device -> Driver -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer for drivers -> Select the folder where you extracted the zip file to.
